Widows First: Food Support

“When I saw the food, I burst into tears.” – Grace

Grace lives with her children in a remote village in northern Nigeria. Her family had nothing left to eat—only a few leaves of spinach and some groundnuts.

“I had no idea how I would feed my children. We prayed for a miracle.

Then a call came—one of our widows’ leaders was on her way, bringing maize and oil.
When I saw the food, I burst into tears.”

Every year between July and September, thousands of widows and their families face the same crisis—when last year’s food supplies are exhausted, and the new harvest is still weeks away.

🍚 One Month of Food: 28 CHF

With just 28 CHF, you can provide a family of four with a one-month supply of essential food: maize and cooking oil.

🎯 Campaign Goal: 33,000 CHF
This will allow us to support
1,177 families during this critical period.

Why This Campaign Matters

Each year, the situation of widowed families becomes especially dire during the summer months.

Years of monoculture farming and the widespread use of chemical fertilizers—often promoted by foreign companies—have depleted the soil. Even where women can still farm, the yields are far too low to survive. By July, most families have run out of food, and the next harvest is still weeks away.

We are committed to long-term, sustainable solutions: For example, through training in agroforestry (pictures below), women learn how to farm organically, regenerate soil, and plant fruit trees. But until these long-term solutions take root, many families still depend on emergency support. Your donation helps them survive this critical season—and reminds them they are not alone.
